Yes, 2 movies in one night...I'm crazy like that. After watching "Bedtime Stories" I decided to watch the Netflix disc I had at home, which happened to be the latest from Warner Bros. DC Animation, "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths."
In this latest DC animation, the Justice League has just about completed their space station headquarters. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and The Martian Manhunter appear to be the main members of the team. As construction nears completion, the team is visited by a heroic Lex Luthor from a parallel Earth. Luthor's earth has been overrun by the Crime Syndicate, which is led by evil incarnations of the Justice League members. Five of the 6 teammates head off to help the alternate earth, while Batman remains behind. But, when the universes cross again, due to Owlman's (the evil Batman) evil plot, the real Dark Knight is pulled in and must save both earths from the twisted plot hatched by Owlman.
Netflix thought I would rate this 4 stars...they must have missed on the fact that I'm a huge Batman fan, so if he does super heroic stuff, it becomes a 5 star movie. I loved this movie, though it had flaws. The voice casting was a little off in my opinion. What I liked the most was seeing Owlman, and realizing that if Batman had made different choices, he could have become as twisted as Owlman had become. I really enjoyed the final showdown between Batman and Owlman...good stuff.
The rest of the characters seem to take a backseat in this one, though The Martian Manhunter has a somewhat prominent role. Superman is relegated to supporting cast, which was different for a DC show.
I think if you are a DC fan, you will like this. If you are a Batman fan, you will love this. This is PG-13, and it's for a good reason. I wouldn't let my kids watch this...it's definitely more violent than your run of the mill animated movie.
