The Saga is Over!

Ok, this should be my last Denver Broncos post until the draft. Yesterday, the Broncos traded disgruntled, whiny QB Jay Cutler to the Chicago Bears for QB Kyle Orton, 2 1st round draft picks and a 3rd round draft pick. It's over....now we can finally move on to other things.

I'm happy with this trade for 3 reasons:

1) The drama is over.
2) I think that the Broncos should be able to parlay the 2, 1st round picks into something good.
3) Kyle Orton is from Iowa, and QB's from Iowa win Super Bowls....see Kurt Warner as an example. Plus, he's never been a whiner, and the offense that the Broncos will run will be very similar to what Orton ran at Purdue, where he holds most of the records.

So, good luck Mr. Sensitive (a.k.a. Jay Cutler)...I hope the grass really is greener for you in the windy city.

The Saga is Nearly at an End

Yes, here it is, another Denver Broncos post. And, again it's about the saga involving new coach Josh McDaniels and Quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler has continued his hissy fit over the fact that the team considered trading him on Feb. 28th. This hissy fit culminated in Cutler demanding a trade 10 days ago...which has now pushed Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen passed the point of no return. Bowlen said yesterday that the Broncos would accommodate Cutler's demand for a trade.

I, for one, am glad. Jay Cutler may turn out to be a hall of fame quarterback, but I don't want anybody on the Broncos who's a "me first" guy which Cutler has proven he is. He could have been the bigger man in this. He could have said, "I understand football is a business, but that doesn't mean I have to be happy about the attempted trade. Still, I'm going to come in and play hard for my teammates." But, instead he's acted like a 15 year old girl who's been wronged by her supposed BFF.

What Cutler doesn't seem to get is, football, more than any other sport is about the team first. No player is untouchable if the coach or front office believes the team can be better without them. Cutler has been good in his first 3 seasons, but he's not proven that he's going to be so good that you'd be nuts to consider ever trading him.

So, now Cutler and the Broncos are parting ways. As a fan, I will always take the Broncos side in this, even if Cutler turns out to be the next Brett Favre. Hopefully the front office will make the right moves and improve the team with this trade. I think they can, but they have to be smart and they have to be a little lucky, or 2009 will be a long season in Broncoland.

Who should be the next Bond?

Ok, so I've decided that I really don't like Daniel Craig as James Bond, and it's ruining Bond for me. Granted, I was never a big James Bond fan, but I did really like the Pierce Brosnan Bond flicks, and the old Sean Connery Bond movies are always good.

So, I've come to the conclusion that we have to replace Daniel Craig. Don't worry about him, he'll be fine. He's got all kinds of other movies he can make. He's proven himself a capable action movie star, he's just missing something that makes Bond...well...Bond.

Here's my top 5 list for who could be the next Bond should Mr. Craig get the boot, I'll rank them in order:

5 - Sean Connery - he could still do it, really!

4 - Christian Bale - if he weren't already playing Batman as well as John Connor in the new Terminator movie, I would call this a slam dunk. As it is, probably not at this point.

3 - Ewan McGreagor - Bit of a dark horse here, but I think he could pull it off. After all, anyone who's cool enough to be Obi Wan Kenobi can pull of James Bond.

2 - Hugh Jackman - This is an intriguing possibility. I think he could pull it off. Maybe it's a bit of a stretch to imagine Wolverine as James Bond, but maybe not.

1 - Clive Owen - Already an accomplished action star, Owen seems to be a perfect fit for the role of James Bond. For me, he has to be the favorite in this list.

This is all I can think of. There just aren't that many actors out there who fit this role.

Book Review: "The Christmas Sweater"

"The Christmas Sweater" by conservative commentator Glenn Beck is not a political book. This book can be enjoyed by conservatives and liberals alike. I loved this book. The story is a condensed version of many of the struggles Glenn Beck has faced in his own life, and how faith in God can pull us through the biggest storms of our life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who:

1) Is struggling to overcome any type of personal problem.
2) Is feeling weak or alone in their faith.
3) Is looking for a heartwarming tale amidst all the depressing news lately.
4) Just wants to read a good book.

I hope everyone who reads "The Christmas Sweater" enjoys it as much as I did. Oh, and it's not a big commitment either. I think it took me 4 hours to read cover to cover.
